J. Cole - Grew Up Fast (download)

J. Cole has hit a lot of milestone's within the past 6 months, after being signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation in 2009, Young Simba finally released his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story a gold-selling debut album, in January 2012 his track "Workout" went Platinum and he received a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. J. Cole's latest accomplishment? People like him. The North Carolina rapper has accumulated two million followers today on Twitter, and what better way to celebrate the fact that you have fans, then to pay them back. Simba released a new free Canei Finch produced track; "Grew Up Fast" samples David Ruffin’s (Temptations) 1969 record "The Double Cross."

The Grammy Nominated storyteller shows how he's grown in his craft and takes shots at "soft" emcees, It’s only right I brought back the soul/ Ya’ll got way too electro, damn near techno/ Halfway homo, way too metro/ Hennessy XO / Cole flow special / Style like Tribe Called Quest meets Death Row/

Of course I'm not sure how his bossman will feel about him hitting on his wife and mother of his first born, And Miss Cleo's Jamaican/ And Bob Marley is Haitian/ And me and Beyoncé dating, but the track definitely has soul. Young Simba is grown.
