Taking a Break

After a few things not working the way I had hoped, I took an unexpected break from TMP. Unlike most writers I don't seem to attempt working out my emotions via text, I'm more of a verbal girl. The worst part however, is that I actually had many things to talk about, an abundance of opinions on pop culture issues (the picture use above gives hints to just one of those issues), and quite a few uplifting updates in my Getting Fit quest. Well June is a new month (also my birthday month), and I have two topics to start it off with: The MTV Movie Awards, airing tomorrow night, along with both Lauren Conrad's abandonment of The Hills, and its season finale (also airing tomorrow night on MTV).

I'm looking forward to both, and may even try and squeeze all those past ideas/topics just lingering in my "notes" widget into upcoming posts. Cheers to a new start and to my upcoming birthday (June 25th), which I'm hoping will also effectuate a new path and beginning.

American Idol, And the Winner Is....

With almost 100 million votes cast (out of the USA's 303,824,640 population, I wonder how many of that 303 million actually have TVs and a phone), Kris Allen has won!

Did I call that or what? My mother's reaction "Oh man. Oh man." Why she's so affected by it, I am not sure? Neither of the two are her children, nor friends, nor children of her friends. All I can say is the kid's deserving, not to say Adam wasn't, but Adam will have 100% have success after this, Kris was just a better Idol fit.

I'm sure his new wife is extremely grateful she married him now. Does that sound jaded at all?

American Idol Finale

I'm watching the much anticipated (at least in this family) season finale of American Idol, and regardless of who wins (I think it can go either way) it's already been a great show. With performance by Black Eyed Peas, Carrie Underwood, Jason Mraz, Keith Urban, Queen Latifah, Cyndi Lauper (who I saw live when I was... five or younger!) and Idol judge Kara DioGuardi showed up Katrina "Bikini Girl" Darrell. Not only in their unmatched performance of Mariah Carey's fame-making Vision of Love, but Kara even ended her performance in a bikini! Well done Kara, and while I found you were far too catty to the aspiring fame-whore, I approve of your on-stage antics. And while we're on the topic of Ms Bikini Girl, why on earth did she have to go out and get implants?!?! I thought she had a such a cute little body prior, real tits and all; although if it weren't for those new additions to her chest Ryan Seacrest wouldn't have the chance to make this comment,
"I'd ask you whats new, but I already know."
There's only 50 minutes left before the Season 8 American Idol is crowned, and I think Kris is going to take it, my mother wants Adam too; for me, it's irrelevant. I have no preference who wins at this point, I was a Megan fan (Okay and a Kris and Adam fan, and Allison and Micheal), but as I was saying, either way both finalists will probably have a career Idol title or not. They're two very different performers, both are extremely talented and deserving.

Edited to add: Adam performed with Kiss, what an SUPERB pair-up! Theatrical meet theatrics!
Edit Number 2: Michael Sarver sounded soooo good during the guys group performance opening for Rod Stewart! Truth be told so did Danny (who sounded very much like Rod) and Anoop and the rest of the guys. In fact the dudes sounded much better than the girls opening group performance of Glamorous for Fergie followed by the Black Eyed Peas. If there were any questions about why the final two or even final three were all guys, we now know the answer. With the exception of Allison, Megan and Alexis, they're just better.

Oh and my mother FINALLY got her Idol wish, Adam is performing Queen, with Brian May at that!

Getting Fit: New Routine with Jillian Michaels

It took me a couple weeks after landing back in Toronto to get settled into a new fitness routine. I had finished The 5-Factor Diet while in Vegas, and was beginning to enjoy the results I was seeing from being able to use a real gym's equipment, but without a guarantee of having that luxury back home doing a high-rep, low-weight circuit would work best for me. I think I am finally ready to give in to Jillian Michaels' bullying (and I've been watching the Biggest Loser lately and it's definitely inspired me and I've warmed up to her),  so I started her routine in Making the Cut last week. While I admit she definitely kicked my ass, with my first week complete I was feeling quite excited for what's to come.

Day 7 was an off day, and I spent it walking around downtown Toronto and meeting with my favourite lawyer for coffee, after a rather enjoyable interview with a company I'd be absolutely perfect for; unfortunately after rushing to my interview I managed to pull a muscle in my thigh. Worried about how it may affect the beginning of week two, I made sure to rest it for the evening hoping that it would miraculously heal overnight.

Naturally, it did not.
Not only was I incapable of putting any weight on my left leg, I also realized that Day 8 was going to be very difficult for me to come up with many home variations. My "Hot Body" goal was starting to look grim, at least at the moment. This is where my cousin comes in and saves my life (I've never denied being a bit dramatic, so that statement stays), and is letting me use her gym membership until her cancellation request kicks in (She hasn't used it in over a year and is FINALLY cancelling it!). I made it to the gym yesterday and did as much as I could without over-stressing my injury, which I'm hoping will be gone by mid-week and I can go back to giving this plan 100% of my efforts.
